Brakes squealed as the lead pickup stopped before a roadway covered in debris. The Bear Trap stuck his head out the window and stared at the wrecked snack truck blocking the way. The tanker had gotten through but had taken a steel fist to the face for its efforts. The pickups would not fare any better, and the Bear Trap wasn’t about to damage his rides without reason or reward.

And the black smoke fuming from the tanker informed him that there would be reward, very soon indeed.

The Leather still had to deal with the roadblock that was the snack truck.

The rest of his war party stopped behind him, their engines rumbling in his ears. Several minions were already jumping out, going for box beds to gather up chains or ropes. The Samurai leaned out a window, staring on impassively.

The Bear Trap shouted and all movement paused.

The Bear Trap then gave orders to the Inflictor, riding in the backseat of the crew cab, looking like an ogre that had survived a burning at the stake.

The pickup truck bounced as the enormous bruiser dropped down to the pavement. He straightened, and as he did, he made a show of rolling his massive shoulders. The Bear Trap didn’t care for such theatrics, and he let the enforcer know. The blowtorched dressings hiding the Inflictor’s face made the day all the gloomier. The Inflictor’s goggles stared ahead at the snack truck, and he strode forward with purpose, all the while throwing those spine-snapping arms of his wide in a warm-up stretch. He stopped at the front of the machine, which had been turned around upon colliding with the tanker. The Inflictor sized up the situation while the Bear Trap and the remainder of the Leather watched and waited.

Without warning, the big man dropped into a half squat and hooked those nail-studded calloused hands underneath the front of the vehicle. He huffed, and then actually growled, which caused the Bear Trap’s driver to glance over at his leader.

The Bear Trap stared on, ignoring the lesser.

The Inflictor growled one last time as his hairy shoulders flexed and rippled. His legs tensed with the enormous weight of the snack truck. Then, as slowly as a mountain freeing itself of the earth, the Inflictor straightened.

Lifting the front of the truck in a groan of metal.

If it wasn’t for those rotten dressings covering his face, arteries the size of tree roots would be seen bulging from the Inflictor’s neck.

There was another lung-clearing snort of air, a refueling then, and the big man slowly tip-toed backwards, pulling the snack truck out of the way of the Leather.
